Signing on as a SPF Senior Police Officer

Realized that there is no specific thread dedicated to discuss about career as a Senior Police Officer in SPF.

Anyone keen to join or already in the process of doing so and having some queries, I can help to answer them.

        Yes me!

Some background profile: Iím 25 Female, graduated from NUS in 2017. I applied for SPO position back then and went up to the first interview stage then failed. I then joined SPFís VSC and started doing ground response duties for a few months now. I recently tried to apply on careers.gov again but this time I was immediately rejected from the portal itself so Iím really wondering why as I assume I meet all the minimum requirements to at least be shortlisted for the first round.

Not going to lie, Iím super disappointed. I clock in more hours doing vsc duties than my own job. Any advice? I would like to try and apply again. Another note is that my height is 160cm and weight is 68kg which is overweight but I have a gold for my most recent IPPT in 2019, marksman for shooting (I wouldnít say Iím fat just heavy bones and muscles so Iím worried that I got rejected cause of my weight)

After rejection, did you wait for minimum 6 months before you re-apply ?

Try ur best to reduce to 63kg or below to increase ur chance! There's no other better ways if this is the reason!

Reducing her weight won't increase her chance as her reason for rejecting is unlikely due to her weight. I have training mates who were overweight and heavier than her .

I thought there's already a thread called "Police Selection Assessment" which many interested ppl discussing abt both the DEI & DES positions? Think u may wanna contribute there which shd be more constructive!👍

Might not be the main reason for the rejection. I have training mates who were way heavier and overweight

DEI and DES selection assessment is different. I thought it would be easier to seperate the thread

Yeah, been almost 2 years before I tried reapplying (I donít think you can reapply when itís less than 6 months)

Also my weight has roughly been the same when I first applied in 2017 vs now. Only difference is because of vsc I have actual IPPT results / shooting results.

Really donít know what caused the immediate rejection... Anyway, do you guys advice to try again in 6 months or continue longer in VSC and see if it could somehow help me out?

U seems fully qualified for the job so i suspect there could be a security clearance issue which they won't disclose to u..

I doubt so because the job scope of VSC and a regular officer is not much different given that both positions carry arms in public and their duties are similar during the NPCO phase. If it were a clearance issue she probably would not even get accepted into VSC.

Yeah (to the point above). Responsibilities wise are the same, I carry arms, warrant card etc so security probably canít be an issue. Maybe Iím just suay? Or too old, considering Iím making a career switch?

I wouldn't say 25 is too old because there are articles of people who are in their 30s who signed on as SPO. It could be that this year's pool of applicants are stronger so the competition is tougher, nothing to do with your credentials. If you are really interested then you should consider re-applying again.

Well you joined vsc as a sgt1. But when you sign on, you will get insp cos u are a degree holder. Maybe thats the reason? You are qualified to be junior officer but not senior officer?

If that's the case then she won't be shortlisted in the first place
Chances are it was due to the competition
