Hi bros, was told to post here instead to try and find some help. From my previous post:

Having some issues with my Mi Box S hope the bros here can help me out.

I have it paired with a Mi TV 4S Global version, and notice that when i scroll through the apps, or within the Netflix app, scroll from show to show, the screen will flicker once before the preview/auto-play starts playing. When playing YouTube or Netflix videos however, buttery smooth with no flickering. It only happens when scrolling through apps/videos.

I have tried different HDMI cable, different HDMI port, and even put the Mi Box S on another TV, not able to replicate the problem. I don't think it's the TV issue as my Mi TV 4S is global version so comes with Playstore (only no Netflix) and it doesn't flicker as i scroll through the apps or in YouTube.

Might be an issue with the resolution in Mi Box S but i've tried 4k/1080p/etc still flickers.

Have searched Google but doesn't seem to have anyone else facing the same issue.

        Thanks in advance!

P.S. Will try to take a video and post here soon.
Most likely due to tv , trying to sense changes in resolutions and setting it automatically. See whether your tv has settings related to this and cec too. Turn them off.

On the box, try turning off cec. Also try not to use auto resolution, see whether it helps.

Anyone able to help? Is Surfshark not compatible with Mibox?
Try ask in the VPN thread. There are many Surfshark users there.

You can also try the alternative methods here.
        1) using shadowsocks
        2) using OpenVPN

Mi Box S has both SS and OpenVPN client apps.

Try not to upgrade for at least 3months or 6 months for major version updates like this.

Xiaomi is notoriously bad for the problems caused last time with the Mi Box Global version's upgrade from Android 6 to 8.0.

just go chromecast app under settings page to clear data and cache, it should work.

next time do a factory reset first before doing major firmware update to avoid such problem.

I am trying to install Dangbei market on my MiBox using this:

        https://m.dangbei.com/wap-view-5240.html

I downloaded using my android phone, then transfer to thumbdrive to install on MiBox. However when I try to install it, it gets to this screen that says "Blocked By Play Protect"

There are 2 choices: "Install Anyway" and "Cancel". But I can't use the remote control to select "Install Anyway".

Basically I want to install some of the Chinese Streaming Apps like Youku, iQiyi etc

        Use a mouse.

But you can actually download the apps from their official websites on your PC or phone and then transfer to your box.

        Youku TV version
        https://pd.youku.com/CIBN?screen=phone

        Tencent Video TV version
        https://tv.qq.com/

        iqiyi TV version
        https://app.iqiyi.com/tv/player/

Or you can directly download the apps from Dangbei website.

I download youku tv and iqiyi tv already and sideload using USB. However the iqiyi app is not showing up in the app list in the home screen. The only way I can open it is to go to settings -> app, then select iqiyi and open.

Youku tv version doesn't require VPN. I can watch the live tv channels and free videos. IQiyi needs VPN.

Also, I am using transocks VPN. Should I download the transocks app from Google app store through mibox or should I download from transocks website and sideload?

        1) Install sideload launcher. The apps will be listed in the sideload launcher app.

        2) Youku does require VPN for many contents if you do not pay for the VIP. Youku TV VIP is called 酷喵影视VIP. If you have VIP, you do not need VPN for many contents but some still need VPN.

        3) Transock TV version from Mi Box S Play Store is not free. If you have paid membership, then yes you can use the TV version.

If you want to use the free ads supported version on Mi Box, then you need to download the mobile version and sideload.

Think I'm using 电视家 as mentioned by Xiaofan earlier.
