just tested ur method using VLC Player. speed so much faster than casting
VLC player UI so ugly but functions well using just remote buttons
it is better to play from file manager, such as es file explorer. and you can choose any player after you clicked on the file. on android boxes, most people use mx player.

Any way to resolve the Netflix unable to Chromecast issue from handphone? Looks resurfaced after yet another Mibox update recently. Uninstalling the Chromecast shell app, force closing and clearing cache/data from it doesn't seem to help. Only gotten as far as getting the icon to show up in the phone app, but after clicking cast, it sometimes shows stuck at "Loading....", and sometimes shows "Failed to establish a session with the selected device SSCR-S4010-XXXX".

Also rebooted Mibox and phone multiple times, reconnected to wifi too.

My mibox 3 sometimes stutter when playing large files, is this a network speed issue or its processor weak issue? Itís connected via a usb 3.0 1Gbe adapter but I tink mibox 3 USB port is 2.0 so not sure if the USB port is the bottleneck or the processor is just weak. Hope someone can advise. Thanks

        1. what is the player?
        2. what is the bit rate of the "large file" ? i.e. size of file / length of movie
        3. what type of video encoding?
        4. what is the brand/model for the usb adaptor?

If you have those 4k 60fps Blu-ray rip files with high bit rate, better use box with more capable CPU, at least those with S905X2/S905X3. Dedicated players using Realtech CPUs like Zidoo may be the best.

        The world in HDR – VP9 Profile 2 10bit – 4K@60fps – 20 Mbps Frameskip

        MAX BITRATE
        Jellyfish – HVEC 10bit – Main 10@L6.1@High – 4K@30fps – Test up to 400 Mbps
        Result: 140 Mbps = 18 MB/s
        *******************************

On the other hand, just to troubleshoot the issue, you can put the file in a USB flash drive and play from there using MX Player to see if it is okay or not. If not okay, the weak S905X CPU is the problem. If okay, then network speed is the problem.

Since you have the Ugreen USB with Ethernet port, just plug in another thumb drive with your Video file into another USB port of the ugreen hub. Kodi will recognize the thumb drive and you can play the video.

use mx player to play the files, see whether you face the problem.

if no problem then the problem is with the standard configuration of kodi.

by default, kodi disable video cache if you are playing local file. create the advanced.xml file to enable video cache will solve the problem.

read here to find out what is advancedsettings.xml
        https://kodi.wiki/view/Advancedsettings.xml

if you found that it is too much to read, just concentrate on this section:
        https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

basically, set the buffermode to 1 and increase video buffer (memorysize) to 104857600 will make video playing of local files much smoother.

if mxplayer works and you find it too troublesome to read kodi manual, remove kodi from mibox

Have a problem with setting 4K resolution on Mi Box S after the update to Android version 9 (android security patch level: March 5, 2020).

My screen resolution is set to
        4k2k-60hz
auto switch to recommended resolution from TV = off
        HDR to SDR = off
        SDR to HDR = on

However, when i restart the Mi Box S, it will jump back to 1080p-60hz.

Doesn't seem to have this issue before the update.

Does anyone know how to permanently set the resolution to 4k? Thanks.

I just bought a Mi Box S connected it directly via hdmi to my tv. The sound coming out from the tv speakers are very soft (100% volume but sounds a little bit like whispering). There wasn't this issue when i connected my PS4 to the tv (Could hear very loudy at just 50% volume). I had to connect the Mi Box S to a bluetooth speaker before I could hear decently. Anybody encounter this issue ??

Check the basic first, try to increase the volume from the Bluetooth remote.

i have problem when mibox s connect to samsung soundbar and soundbar connect to tv. when on the mibox there is a display only 1 sec after that black screen, but still can hear the sound from mibox.

so i need to off and on it back again, and remove the hdmi cable and put back, after that can see the screen but this is so random, sometime doesnt work either.

        my connection

        miboxtv --> Q70r (samsung soundbar) --> Samsung TV 4k (UA55NU7090)

anyone have the same problem? thank you
